Adam Longman Parker, otherwise known as Afriqua, is a rising talent whose tracks bear the distinct mark of a classically trained musician. Known for effortlessly layering hand-played piano sections over intricate, electronic beats – his unyielding passion for musical discovery has not gone unnoticed – with such labels as Nilla, Dream Diary and Cure Music sharing his output with the world in recent years.
Afriqua’s latest four-track EP ‘Aleph’ marks the first release in an extended collaborative journey between the Berlin-based producer and R&S Records, via whom his debut album will be released next year. Arguably the most DJ friendly of the four tracks, our pick for the premiere is ‘Thanksgiving’, which packs a solid, 4×4 kick, a hypnotising bassline and a flurry of cosmic stabs and wonderfully distant, Rhodes-style pads.
