On 3rd November, Nina Kraviz brings her трип label to Oval Space for трип 2 London. Nina will play an extended set, joined by Chicago techno legend DJ Rush and close трип affiliates Roma Zuckerman, Exos and Bjarki, who will play live.
Nina Kraviz’s road to international superstardom hasn’t been straightforward. Born and raised in the harsh & unforgiving Siberian plains, Nina moved to Moscow to pursue a career in dentistry, all the while developing a deep and sincere appreciation for house & techno. Having broken onto the scene in 2009, with a series of well-received EPs on Naif, Underground Quality and Rekids, Nina rose to prominence with her self-titled album and founded трип in 2014. Today, Kraviz is one of the most celebrated DJs in dance music, but she’s so much more than a famous face. Nina has a deep passion for her craft and constantly pushes herself to greater heights; culminating in her ‘fabric 91’ mix last December, one of our favourite mixes of the past decade.
Joining Nina, in a rare appearance, is bonafide Chi-town legend DJ Rush, who’ll play his first London show in nearly 10 years and drop a record on трип in the next month. Rush is a truly enigmatic presence: a 6 ft 6" tall self-styled freak who often combines brutal techno with fishnets and stilettos, Rush is a sometime crossdressing techno savant, whose skills behind a pair of turntables are spoken of in hushed voices amongst those who know. A regular at the Chicago clubs that started it all (Warehouse, Music Box, Power House), Rush was there at the very beginning, and, rare for an old-skool US dance music artist, is still as on-point now as he was 30 years ago.
He’s joined by two Icelandic artists, representing the old guard and new school - Bjarki and Exos. Bjarki has been on our minds since blowing the roof off The Pickle Factory last year. If Bjarki is the shooting star of Icelandic techno, then Exos is the producer who laid the blueprint - his early productions have passed into dub techno myth. Alongside his many appearances on трип, Exos most recently founded his own label X/OZ. Russian artist Roma Zuckerman rounds out the lineup having featured on three трип concept albums to date, with a solo EP for the label coming in November.”
